This site should work for everyone.
We spend our days fixing systems that quietly fail the people using them. Running one ourselves would be a bad look. So here is what we hold this site to, what is still wrong with it, and how to tell us when we have missed something.
What we hold it to
We build this site to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Ontario's accessibility law points at that standard and so does Section 508 in the States, so hitting it covers both.
What that means in practice: you can drive the whole site from a keyboard, it works with a screen reader, it stops moving if your system says you don't want motion, the text is dark enough to actually read, and nothing important is said in colour alone.
If the type is too small
There is a button marked Bigger text: in the menu if you are on a phone, at the bottom of the page if you are on a computer. It sets the type a quarter larger, darkens the words, and grows every button to match, so nothing gets harder to hit.
On a computer you can also just hold Ctrl and press + (Cmd and + on a Mac). This site reflows when you do that instead of pushing everything sideways, so nothing ends up cut off.
The button also lifts the contrast, which matters most for a phone in a truck at two in the afternoon. Turn it on once and it stays on. If your phone or laptop is already set to larger text or higher contrast, this site follows that on its own and you can ignore all of this.
Where it still falls short
Nobody ships a perfectly accessible site, and a page telling you otherwise is selling something. Here is what we know is still wrong:
- The product demos on the home and solutions pages are animated illustrations. Each one has a written description, but the animation itself is not something you can navigate.
- Case study photos carry no alt text. They are decorative, and everything they show is already written out beside them.
- We have tested this site with VoiceOver, with keyboard only, and with automated checks (axe-core against WCAG 2.2 AA, every page, desktop and mobile, in both text sizes). We have not tested it with JAWS, NVDA, or Dragon. If you use one of those and something is broken, we genuinely will not know until you tell us.
Run into something that isn't on that list? We would much rather hear about it.
Telling us something is broken
Email info@stackandlever.com. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you were using to do it: a browser, a screen reader, keyboard only, voice control. Any of that helps us find it faster.
You will hear back within one business day. If the fix is going to take longer than that, we will tell you what we are doing and roughly when. We won't just go quiet on you.
Need this another way?
Ask, and we will send the same information in a format that works for you: plain text, large print, or just a phone call. It costs nothing and you don't owe us a reason.
